It's exciting in so many ways. Watching her grow is exciting in and of itself. It's always so amazing to experience first's with your little ones, you often feel as if you're experiencing it for the first time yourself! As we grow, we seem to miss wonderful things that are right in front of our eyes. We take for granted the wonderful palette of colors God has given us in nature itself, we miss the brilliant colors on a shiny bugs back, the chorus of birds singing and squirrels breaking open peanut shells, the freedom of running without abandon (as Phoebe wisely puts it "THAT'S NOT RUNNING!"). Watching our children experience all these things is God's special reminder to stop, to experience, to live, to be thankful.
And yet I find myself yearning to get to the next stage, the next stage, the next...while having to constantly remind myself that this is our LAST FIRST. She's our last baby, we need to savor each moment, it's the last time we will be experiencing these precious "firsts." One day we will look back upon these moments and wish them back, or wish it hadn't gone so fast. However in the present, as many mommies know, 15 minutes can seem to last an eternity! So giving ourselves a little tap on the shoulder is often necessary - "Hey, Mommy, take the time, slow down, stop cleaning for a while, just 'experience' with me, I'm only at this stage for a short while, live it up!"
So as always, here are a few pictures so you can experience a last first along with us. Also a picture of a bug, "Big Brother Bug" to be exact! Jacob named this shiny bright green-backed bug with love and excitement! So along with our son, Matt and I got to spend some concentrated time inspecting this bug and all its brilliant colors, its shapes, how many circles were on its back, and knowing that although this is one of billions, it is special and unique and wonderful and created by God, and that is probably the first and last time we will ever see "Big Brother Bug." :-)
