22 Days Of Thanksgiving: Day Fourteen

The definite highlight of today was Jenna in the bath tub!!! Matt and the kids were at Awana, so it was pure undevoted time between Jenna and I, and oh my goodness was it ever cute! She can sit up just fine in the bath tub now, so she's completely free from anything getting in her way from having a good time. She'd smack her hands down against the water, and I'd excitedly respond "SPLISH SPLASH!!!" and she'd look up at me with the biggest smile and laugh and laugh!!! Again, and again, and again... It was by far the happiest I have EVER seen her!!! EVER! I wanted SO badly to go downstairs and grab my camera or camcorder to get it recorded in some way, but there's no way I could leave her in there of course. But that was a blessing as well because then I could just sit there and enjoy the time WITH her. (I sure wish I could have gotten it captured in some way though, SO CUTE!!!)

So that's what I'm most thankful for today, those precious moments that you hope to engrain in your mind and cherish for the rest of your life! Like fun in the tub :-)

On another note, Jacob's school pictures came today, and if I do say so myself, he is quite handsome! (wish he was smiling bigger, but that's OK!) The first thing he said when he pulled the picture packet out of his backpack was "I don't have any glasses on!" He is so proud to have his first "NO GLASSES" school picture!

Jacob's Class Field Trip!

Matt and Jacob went on their first Kindergarten field trip on Thursday! The forecast looked a bit crummy so they dressed in layers, wore their boots, and headed off to school. They boarded the big yellow bus in anticipation of a day at Remlinger Farms. Matt volunteered as a chaperone so he had two additional boys under his care, Joshua and Hunter. Hunter is from Jacob's class, they're buddies, Joshua is from the PM class. The boys had a GREAT time! They got to pet all kinds of animals, go on a bunch of rides, do the hay maze, play in this crazy trampoline/hay area, ate lunch, picked out a pumpkin, just a fun day in general! It only sprinkled on them a teensy bit, YAY! Here are some pictures of their fun and successful day at the farm.

First Call From The Nurse

I was feeling really bad today when I was playing with the girls up in Juliana's room and heard the very end of the phone ringing, only to find that the Caller ID read Tahoma School District. I quickly ran down to get my cell phone to see if they had tried that number as well, and sure enough, they did. (not being over-protective, just want to be a mom that's available when necessary!)

Anywho, yep, it was the school nurse :-) Jacob was playing in the home-living center and a globe fell from above and hit his glasses on the way down. That resulted in it making a scrape and bruise beneath his eye. Totally no biggie, just blogging it cuz it's his first real injury at school :-)

Not Sure What To Report???

Hmmm...he's never been good at telling me about his day...I'm always left wishing I could have been a fly on the classroom wall :-) It goes something like this: "How did your day go?" "Good." "What did you do?" "I dunno." "Did you read a book?" "No." "Did you go outside and play?" "Yes." "Did you write your name?" "Yes." "Did you make any new friends?" "Yes." "What are their names?" "I dunno." Etc. etc. etc... The only things I've gotten out of him is that at some point he lost his group during recess and he ended up being out there with the big kids until the man in the orange jacket told him he wasn't supposed to be with the big kids, Jacob got scared and cried. :-( I'm not sure how that all unfolded, like how he ended up out there at that time, did he just not go in with his class at the end of recess? Did he go out there at a different time? How long was he out there? Oh how I wish he'd tell me more, so frustrating! :o) Anywho, he also said he got to eat crackers during recess, rectangle ones with holes in them :-) He drew a picture of Jacob in a house and it read "I love Dad, I love you too Mom." But he says he drew with a white crayon on white paper ;-) He was very excited to ride the bus home. Aunt Karen actually followed the bus into our development, so she got to witness first-hand how they let students off the bus. It was nice to hear that they started from the back of the bus and worked their way forward, matching each student's name with a name on the list, then rechecking every row to make sure no children were missed.

Back at the ranch, now that's something I can actually tell you about! It was a GREAT day for Juliana, Jenna & myself! I thoroughly enjoyed being able to solely focus on the two girls while Jacob was at school. It was so nice getting to read books to Juliana while Jenna was napping. And in general just playing with the two, and not having to feel the need to entertain a third child (he's getting harder and harder to entertain, he's definitely growing up). I feel like I'm finally going to get some much-needed good ol' one-on-one time with Juliana, and that makes me so happy! She's been doing GREAT with her potty training! Apparently all she needed was a visit to the Magical Currey Home, and some switch got turned on in her head :-) (which is hilarious as when I LEFT for 45 minutes to take Jacob to his Kindergarten assessment that day, I had said "OK, I expect Juliana to be fully potty trained by the time I return" - little did I know that would actually be the case!) It's been a week now of her doing phenomenal! She's had a few accidents here and there, but overall she is doing wonderful, and we are THRILLED! (as is she!) So she and Emma Currey will be starting dance class next week, YAY! More to come on our little ballerina princess...

Kindergarten Begins!

Well, he's off! Jacob helped pick out what clothes he was going to wear, put his backpack on, and even did a little video bio for me. We went out front and click click click went the camera! He was SO excited and donned the biggest smile ever! He went to his "normal" spot to wait for the bus (right out front of our house), and I had to redirect him to where the BIG KIDS wait for the BIG BUS. Yet another thing he got very excited about :-) I think he was a bit overwhelmed when he saw how many people were there...between all of the parents and kids, there were a lot of people! But when we saw that bus, that amazingly LARGE bus #44, he snapped out of it and was back to being excited again!

Juliana jumped up and down in excitement, and Jacob quickly joined her! As Jacob walked up to that big bus, and I crouched down to take a picture at his level, I realized just how small he looks next to that HUGE bus! What a year of growth this will be, I'm so excited to see the outcome of this great adventure. For now, we'll just wait for him to come home from his first day of Kindergarten, and take things one step at a time. To be continued!!!

A Taste of Kindergarten!

We had Orientation this morning. We met his teacher again, and half the students in his class. We went on a "scavenger hunt" in the classroom so he could learn where everything is and how things work. After you've found everything, the student is supposed to go to the teacher, say Hi, either give her a high five, a handshake or a hug, and get your picture taken. Our little man chose to shake her hand :-) Reminded me of when he was about two years old, and as he'd enter our church on Sunday mornings, he'd insist on shaking everyone's hands that passed his way. It took a long time to get from one end of the hall to the other!

He got to play on the big playground with the playground lady while us parents went back into the class with the teacher to go through the handbook. Jacob was the first one back to the classroom, he looked so grown up. He is SO excited to start Kindergarten tomorrow! He even said that I'm going to have another baby and her name will be Mrs. Dean. :-) Silly boy...

We can't wait for him to start school! I have found that I can't keep him entertained as well anymore. His brain needs to be challenged, his social skills need to be widened, his legs need to run! He grew so much in so many ways last year in Preschool, we can't wait to see what will unfold throughout this school year!
